Malamat, 43, shows the strain of her new life as she assists her husband Eldar, 65, as he exits their home in the village of Taxta Korpu in Aghjabadi, Azerbaijan on May 27, 2013. The couple are refugees with no children. Prior to their displacement, Eldar was an accountant. They were two of the 13,000 refugees originally from Lachin in Nagorno-Karabakh who fled their homes between 1988 and 2012 as a result of the armed conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia over the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. By the time a ceasefire agreement was signed, an estimated 30,000 people had been killed and more than 700,000 internally displaced.
